Magda Dopierała - Trained and experienced translator and interpreter of the English language

"Sometimes people speak highly of their skills, especially at work. Actions speak louder than words, though. To check if the »confessed« language level corresponds to the real, performance-based one, give it a test."

Language assessment

Ability to communicate in English is almost a must today and employers expect their staff to have at least elementary knowledge of it. To meet the growing demand for linguistically skillful workforce, I undertake language assessment tests of both employees and candidates for specified positions.

Verification typically consists of two parts. A test is designed to check knowledge of vocabulary, grammar (in use), reading comprehension and writing, all in appropriate register e.g. formal or informal. Speaking, apart from the aforementioned, shows how speakers communicate in a given context and how they cope with stress being part and parcel of today’s business and which has a tremendous impact on our general performance, not to mention the one in a foreign language.

Both evaluation procedures are prepared with reference to a given work position – its specific features and key requirements – as well as guidelines provided by a recruiter/employer in advance.

European standards

Working as an English teacher of corporate workers of every rank and file in many renowned enterprises has given me a vast experience in assessing language skills, competencies and achievements of company staff. Thus, apart from examining candidates in recruitment processes, I verify language progress of people attending in-company language courses. Tasks are carefully designed to provide a true and fair view followed by useful tips to streamline learning process. Evaluation is based on standards of Common European Framework.

Don’t know what a vague "English – communicative" really means in a job application? Looking for people with appropriate level of English to face international environment? I can help!
